Meet Chef Randal
Chef Randal was born and raised in the backwoods and swamps of Florida. His life has always centered around food and family. He spent many summers of his youth playing in waist high swamps with his brother, Kenneth, swimming the river in Dade City with his cousins, or at his Grandma Casey’s strawberry farm in Plant City. Everything was about the outdoors- fishing, hunting, swimming & eating. Every Sunday his moma rang the dinner bell, calling the family, relatives and assorted friends to a table laden with slow cooked pork roasts, freshly picked turnip greens, hot buttered corn and steaming cornbread.
Following high school, Randal served four years as a U.S. Marine. When Randal returned home from service (Japan), he embarked on a career in cooking that took him from greasey Southern BBQ joints to the Florida Keys, Saddlebrook Resort to Opryland in Nashville, his own restaurants with his brother in Homosassa and Brooksville to the Ocala Hilton and ultimately, his own television show: Dishin’ It Out With Randal White.
Chef Randal strives to excel in his career. He is constantly learning from others, be it fellow chefs or through specialty courses. His cooking style is greatly influenced by the southern cracker cooking of his mother, but he likes to add original twists to the receipes -aside from turnip greens, as he will tell you with a smile, “there are just some things in life that you should not mess with…”
When not sweating it out under the lights of the camera, cooking up a storm of creations at the Ocala Hilton, or chainsawing his latest ice sculpture, the Chef can be found in his boat, whites tossed aside, enjoying the Florida outdoors and waiting for the perfect bass.
